About the Symbiosis Institute of Technology

Research programmes leading to Ph. D. Degree in all the disciplines were introduced in Faculty of Engineering of Symbiosis International University in 2010.

The Institute is dedicated to providing high-quality technical education aligned with the demands of today's competitive industry and rapidly evolving technological landscape. Our carefully crafted curriculum emphasizes both fundamental principles and the latest developments in the field. Recognizing the pivotal role of faculty, we have taken special initiatives to recruit and retain highly qualified and competent educators.

Our state-of-the-art infrastructure, on par with other esteemed Symbiosis Institutes, includes multimedia classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, advanced computing facilities with cutting-edge software for simulations and various applications, a modern library stocked with digital media and databases, an auditorium, seminar halls, separate hostels for male and female students, and playgrounds.

Creating an environment conducive to nurturing the potential of both faculty and students is our priority. We achieve this through meticulous planning and control of the teaching-learning process within and beyond the classroom. The core teaching-learning experience is complemented by organizing technical festivals, cultural programs, sports competitions, industry-institute collaborations, guest lectures by renowned personalities, and student exchange programs (Global Immersion Programme) with international universities.

The Institute has established collaborations with prestigious institutions such as Nanyang Technological University Singapore, Ingolstadt University Germany, Purdue School of Engineering, IUPUI Indianapolis USA, and Leibniz University Hannover for student and faculty exchanges.

Inspired by the vision of Dr. S. B. Mujumdar Sir, the Chancellor of SIU and the founder of Symbiosis, to cultivate well-rounded engineers, our students are exposed to foreign languages, the history of science & technology, service learning, creative and critical thinking, design thinking, tinkering, human values and ethics, experiential learning, project-based learning, and Internet of Things. We offer special diplomas from SIBM and courses from other Symbiosis Institutes, as well as online courses from platforms like Coursera, MOOC, SWAYAM, etc., to enhance the quality of education.

To encourage specialized knowledge, we offer honors/minor courses in various disciplines, allowing students to gain in-depth expertise in a specific area tailored to their future growth. Additionally, students have the opportunity to collaborate on technical projects in groups under the guidance of faculty members, leading to outcomes such as paper publications and patents.

Our students participate in semester-long industry internships with stipends ranging from Rs. 10,000 to 50,000, providing them with practical experience and valuable insights into the professional world.

SIT's student body represents diverse regions of the country. This diversity, combined with their excellent educational backgrounds and family histories, creates an ideal environment for peer learning.
